Stock Show Parade moves up 17th Street

Firefighters say two hikers who were rescued from a steep, remote part of Deer Creek Canyon Park southwest of Denver have been flown to hospitals with moderate injuries.

Inter-Canyon Fire/Rescue spokesman Daniel Hatlestad says the injuries include broken bones and one potential head injury. The injured hikers were in a group of about five people in an off-trail area Thursday afternoon when some rocks broke loose. The others weren't injured.

About two dozen rescuers looked for the hikers after their group called 911. Images from one hiker who took photos of the surrounding area and from a news helicopter helped rescuers find them.

It was after dark and temperatures were dropping by the time both injured hikers could be flown off the mountain.
